SZAZHALOMBATTA: TRANSPORT OF A TURBINE AND A GENERATOR
For the final positioning of one gas turbine and a generator originated to Italy and destined to the Szazhalombatta power plant in Hungary Fagioli was called to organise the whole challenging operation.
| Description | Quantity | Length (m) | Width (m) | Height (m) | Weight (t) | | Gas Turbine | 1 |
10,77 | 5,40 | 4,81 | 310 | | Generator | 1 | 12,48 | 4,16 | 4,20 | 326 |
The outline scope of work for Fagioli was the :
Loading/unloading Items onto ship (Ro-Ro + Lo-Lo) / barge (Lo-Lo)
Sea transport
River transport
Unloading barge operation by SPMT (Ro-Ro)
Heavy transport by Modular Trailer (MT / SPMT)
Positioning by Hydraulic Gantry Crane System
The equipment used for the inland transport operations were the followings:
MT Trailer: 2 x 8 axles + N° 2 Prime mover ( Turbine's transport from manufacturing factory to Marina di Carrara port)
MT Trailer: 2 x 11 axles + N° 2 Prime mover ( Generator's transport from manufacturing factory to Genova port) + Transport structure (beams)
SPMT Trailer: 2 x 10 axles + N° 1 PPU ( Transport of generator from Szazhalombatta port to power plant)
SPMT Trailer: 2 x 10 axles + N° 1 PPU ( Transport of Turbine from Szazhalombatta port to power plant)
The equipment used for the sea transport was the group-owned ship Storman Asia .
The Inland transport from manufacturing factory to Marina di Carrara port for the turbine was about 3 km. The modular trailer was loaded ro-ro on the group owned ship Storman Asia.
After leaving Marina di Carrara the vessel arrived at Genova where the trailer was unloaded ro-ro, while the turbine was loaded lo-lo with the derricks of the ship.
In the meantime the generator was transported from manufacturing factory in Genova to the port for about 6 km. Once the generator was loaded (by gears) the two pieces were sea-fastened and ready to leave to Constanta port (RO) for about 1600 miles in the Balck Sea. The two pieces were directly unloaded onto a local barge for the long river transport to Bratislava in Slovak along the Danube river (more than 2500 km).
In Bratislava the two pieces were unloaded from the first barge and positioned onto another barge where Spmt's trailers had been previously positioned. The barge came back to Szazhalombatta port in Hungary where the two pieces were unloaded ro-ro and proceeded to the Power Station for about 3 km.
Once in position the two pieces were loaded from the Spmt's with the gantry cranes and installed with longitudinal and transversal translation up to its final position.
